Laika, the renowned animation studio behind ‘Coraline,’ ‘ParaNorman,’ ‘Kubo and the Two Strings,’ and ‘The Missing Link,’ has finally dropped the full trailer for its latest stop-motion animated movie, ‘Wildwood.’ The teaser trailer, which has been making waves since its initial release, offers a glimpse into the enchanting world of this new fantasy adventure.
Directed and produced by Laika’s boss, Travis Knight, ‘Wildwood’ is an adaptation of the book series by The Decemberists’ frontman Colin Meloy. The movie follows the story of headstrong teenager Prue McKeel (played by Peyton Elizabeth Lee), who embarks on a desperate rescue mission to save her baby brother from a murder of crows. As Prue navigates the Impassable Wilderness, an enchanted forest hidden just beyond Portland, Oregon, she must confront the darkness within and discover the strength and belief she never knew she possessed.
Joined by her hapless but loyal classmate Curtis Mehlberg (played by Jacob Tremblay), Prue must navigate a world of talking animals, bandits, and powerful figures driven by grief and ambition. As the pair is drawn into a conflict threatening the balance of the forest itself, Prue must risk everything to save her brother and protect Wildwood’s fragile future.

Laika’s ‘Wildwood’ is set to hit theaters on October 23, courtesy of Fathom Entertainment, a specialty distributor that has previously backed rereleases of Laika hits like ‘Coraline’ and ‘ParaNorman.’ The movie marks the studio’s first stop-motion animated film since ‘The Missing Link’ in 2019 and is part of a string of five Oscar-nominated pictures in a row, dating back to ‘Coraline’ in 2009.
