Back on Track: DJ Lagway Brings Hope and Family Legacy to Baylor Football
Baylor Football’s New Hope
It’s still dark outside when the alarm rings, signaling the start of a new day for DJ Lagway. The quarterback is already up, preparing to lead his new teammates through a grueling five-mile run. This is not a typical morning routine for a college football player, but for Lagway, it’s just another day in the life of a man with a mission.
After a successful stint at Florida, Lagway found himself at a crossroads. With the Gators’ program in shambles, he knew it was time to move on. Baylor, his father’s alma mater, was the perfect destination for a new chapter in his life and football career.
Lagway’s father, Derek, was a running back at Baylor in the late ’90s. The younger DJ attended games as a kid, watching the Bears open McLane Stadium and win Big 12 championships. The green and gold of Baylor was all he knew growing up, and now he’s back to help the program regain its former glory.
But Lagway’s journey to Baylor wasn’t without its challenges. He faced numerous setbacks, including injuries and inconsistent roster performance. However, with the help of his coaches and teammates, he was able to overcome these obstacles and find his footing in the college football world.
Today, Lagway is more than just a quarterback – he’s a leader, a mentor, and a role model. His work ethic and dedication to the sport have inspired his teammates, and his passion for the game is contagious.
