NVIDIA’s AI Supremacy on the Brink of a Major Challenge

Eagle Capital Management, a leading investment management company, has expressed its concerns about the future of NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA), a top player in the AI infrastructure market. In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Eagle Capital Management highlighted the potential risks and challenges facing NVIDIA’s dominance in the AI industry.

The letter emphasized that NVIDIA’s largest customers, including Google and Amazon, are developing their own AI chips, which could eventually reduce NVIDIA’s market share. These customers have internal silicon programs that are likely to compete directly with NVIDIA’s products, posing a significant threat to its profitability.

According to the letter, NVIDIA’s 75-80% gross margin implies that it is marking up Taiwan Semiconductor (TSMC) wafers by 4-5 times. This high margin may attract custom programs from competitors, which could offer better price-performance to end customers. As a result, NVIDIA’s market share may decline, and its margins may follow.

NVIDIA is investing in the neocloud industry to support demand for its chips and weaken hyperscalers’ position. However, by selling its chips at high prices, it makes the neoclouds high-cost operators, and therefore less likely to succeed against vertically integrated hyperscalers over the long term.

Eagle Capital Management has stated that it prefers to construct a portfolio that can perform across multiple outcomes rather than relying on one forecast. The firm believes that current earnings can overstate underlying economics because semiconductor equipment is depreciated over several years, while free cash flow growth remains much weaker.

The letter also highlighted the risks associated with elevated valuations, concentrated demand, and aggressive investment assumptions. Eagle Capital Management has decided to recycle capital toward attractive opportunities outside the most crowded AI trades while maintaining selective exposure to high-quality beneficiaries.
