Austrian director Sandra Wollner’s film ‘Everytime’ has made a lasting impression at the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival, taking home the prestigious Heart of Sarajevo award for best narrative feature film.

The film, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, tells the story of a mother, young daughter, and teenage boy who embark on a trip to the Canary Islands in search of a family holiday that never happened. The film’s haunting drama has been praised for its ‘poised, haunting’ portrayal of the characters’ grief and tragedy.

Awards Galore at the Sarajevo Film Festival

The Sarajevo Film Festival has been a hub for cinematic excellence, with numerous awards given out to deserving films. In addition to Sandra Wollner’s ‘Everytime’, Ana Urushadze’s ‘Supporting Role’ took home the Heart of Sarajevo for best director. Eva Kostić was awarded best actress for her role in ’17’, while Adrian Văncică received the best actor award for his performance in ‘You Don’t Belong Here’.

The documentary feature ‘To Hold a Mountain’ by Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić won the Heart of Sarajevo award for best documentary feature film. The film follows the story of two extraordinary women and a disappearing way of life in the Montenegrin highlands.

The jury praised the film for its ‘astonishingly epic cinematography’ and ‘touching portrait of two extraordinary women and a disappearing way of life’. The film has also won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize at Sundance and the Grand Prix at Poland’s Millennium Docs Against Gravity.
