Peacock Greenlights Wendy Williams Docuseries

Peacock has greenlit a documentary celebrating the life and career of iconic television personality Wendy Williams and her long-running daytime talk show. The three-part docuseries, tentatively titled Clap If You Care: The Wendy Williams Show, is set to air in 2027 and promises to delve into the highs and lows of Williams’ remarkable journey.

Williams, who skyrocketed from unlikely beginnings as a radio host to redefine the daytime talk genre with her outrageous on-screen antics, will be the subject of the documentary. The show, which aired for 13 seasons, was a staple of daytime television and earned Williams multiple Daytime Emmy nominations.

Clap If You Care: The Wendy Williams Show will feature 20 former staffers from the talk show who will share their behind-the-scenes experiences working alongside Williams. The documentary will also explore the complicated truths about the cost of fame and answer long-lingering questions surrounding Williams’ infamous exit from her own show.

Williams has been open about her health struggles, including a diagnosis of aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2024. The documentary is expected to shed light on her ongoing health issues and the challenges she has faced in her personal and professional life.

The documentary is executive produced by Ian Orefice, Jon Adler, Amanda Spain, and Missy Walker for EverWonder Studio. Chris Witherspoon and Vanessa Golembewski will also executive produce.

Williams’ talk show ended its run in June 2022, and while the reasons for her departure were shrouded in mystery, the documentary promises to provide a candid look at the events leading up to her exit.
