The average annual value (AAV) of Witherspoon’s contract is a remarkable $33 million, surpassing the $31.1 million average Denzel Ward of the Cleveland Browns secured last month.

This monumental contract raises the bar for Christian Gonzalez, the New England Patriots’ cornerback, who was also vying to reset the cornerback market. Gonzalez has been sidelined in recent days due to a minor injury, and the Patriots will now be forced to reevaluate their offer.

Witherspoon’s Rise to Stardom

Since being selected by the Seahawks with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Witherspoon has established himself as one of the league’s top cornerbacks. He has made the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons, joining an elite group of defensive backs that includes Charles Woodson and Patrick Peterson.
