The developer behind the action-packed game Arc Raiders, Embark Studios, has announced that it will be halting Expeditions, a key feature in the game, until early 2027. This decision is aimed at allowing the studio to rework the Expeditions system and address some of the issues that players have been facing.

Expeditions in Arc Raiders are a significant aspect of the game. Functionally, they are similar to prestiging in Call of Duty, providing high-level players with a way to reset much of their character’s progress in exchange for unique benefits. However, the Expeditions system has been a subject of controversy among players, particularly with regard to the grind.

Embark Studios has been working on improving the Expeditions system since its inception. Following changes to the fourth Expedition announced in June, it became clear that a more significant overhaul was on the way. In a recent update, the studio acknowledged that it has been reviewing player feedback on Expeditions and has come to realize that some of the issues, such as the tight departure windows, reward structure, and accessibility for new players, need more than incremental fixes.
