The anime streaming service has started appearing on the Appning app store, marking a significant milestone in its expansion into the connected car ecosystem.

Streaming video apps have become a staple in modern vehicles, allowing drivers to access a wide range of entertainment content while on the move. Crunchyroll, one of the leading anime streaming services, has now joined this trend by partnering with Appning to bring its content directly to car infotainment systems.
Appning is a popular app store that is available in vehicles from over 40 brands, including BMW, Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen Group, Mini, Lotus, and SAIC Motor. The partnership between Crunchyroll and Appning will enable users to access Crunchyroll’s vast library of anime content, including popular shows like ‘Dan Da Dan’ and ‘Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers,’ directly within their car’s infotainment system.
According to Crunchyroll, the integration with Appning will be available in global regions, including Asia, Australia, Europe, India, Latin America, and North America. This move is expected to further increase the popularity of Crunchyroll among anime fans and expand its reach into new markets.
As a safety measure, video streaming typically only works on an infotainment system while the car is parked. This is a wise decision, as it’s probably not a good idea to be distracted by anime while driving on the highway.
Crunchyroll has made an official announcement on LinkedIn about the partnership, stating that the integration will be available directly within connected car environments across the mentioned global regions. The announcement highlights the company’s commitment to expanding its reach and providing its users with a seamless viewing experience.
It’s worth noting that Crunchyroll is already available in BMW cars, and it’s expected to be available in more vehicles in the near future. However, the Afeela 1, a car from Crunchyroll’s parent company Sony and Honda, will not be supported due to the car’s cancellation a few months ago.
The integration of Crunchyroll with Appning is a significant development in the connected car ecosystem, and it’s expected to have a positive impact on the anime streaming market. With the rise of streaming services in vehicles, it’s likely that we’ll see more partnerships between streaming services and car manufacturers in the future.
