Hayden Panettiere’s death on August 16 has left the entertainment industry in shock, with many of her co-stars and colleagues paying tribute to the talented actress. Sendhil Ramamurthy, who played Mohinder Suresh on the NBC series ‘Heroes,’ shared a heartwarming story about Panettiere’s kindness and professionalism on the set of the show.
According to Ramamurthy, he first met Panettiere at the final screen test for ‘Heroes,’ where he was nervous and sweating through his shirt. However, Panettiere was already a pro, belting out show tunes in the waiting room with ease. Ramamurthy remembered being impressed by her confidence and professionalism, saying, ‘I had to leave immediately. I spent the rest of the time in the hallway sweating. Hayden was already a pro. I was nearly twice her age and she had 3x as much experience.’
The two actors were ultimately cast in the show, which originally ran on NBC for four seasons from 2006 to 2010 before being revived as a miniseries in 2015. Ramamurthy praised Panettiere’s kind heart and generosity, saying, ‘I learned a lot from her. She stuck up for background actors when they were mistreated, knew every crew member’s name, and was so generous with her time.’
Ramamurthy also shared a personal anecdote about Panettiere’s kindness, recalling a time when he was not feeling well during a press day after the Golden Globes. Panettiere made sure he had plenty of Gatorade and kept going on and on at him about drinking fluids. Ramamurthy said, ‘That’s how I will remember her: a kind, joyful, professional, shittalker, who even at a young age, understood the importance of hydration. You will be missed.’
Many of Panettiere’s co-stars have posted emotional tributes to her on social media in the days since her death. Connie Britton, who starred alongside Panettiere in the TV series ‘Nashville,’ shared behind-the-scenes photos from their time working together, saying, ‘This was Hayden. Bursting with brilliance, shining so bright. I have no words for this sad song. Just heartbreak. I love you girl. Sleep easy now.’
Hayden Panettiere’s death is currently under investigation, but there were ‘not any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances,’ according to police.
