LMGI Awards 2024 Celebrate Outstanding Locations in Film and TV

The Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) Awards ceremony took place on Saturday night, honoring the use of filming locations across motion pictures, television, commercials, film commissions, and special achievement categories. The event celebrated the art of location management, recognizing the hard work and dedication of location managers, scouts, and coordinators who bring stories to life on screen.

The winners of the LMGI Awards 2024 were announced, and ‘One Battle After Another’ directed by Paul Thomas Anderson took home the award for outstanding locations in a contemporary feature film. The film was shot on location in California’s Humboldt County, Sacramento, Stockton, Eureka, Arcata, San Diego, and El Paso, Texas.

‘Marty Supreme’, directed by Josh Safdie, won outstanding locations in a period feature film for its work in New York City, greater New York, the Hudson Valley, New Jersey, and Tokyo. The film’s use of these locations added to its unique and captivating storyline.

Winners of the LMGI Awards 2024

The LMGI Awards also recognized the outstanding work of location managers in television. ‘Pluribus’, a series on Apple TV+, won outstanding locations in a contemporary television series for its filming locations in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Montana, Nevada, and Spain. ‘Fallout’, a series on Amazon Prime Video, won outstanding locations in a period television series for its work in California’s Dumont Dunes, Mojave Desert, Antelope Valley, and Santa Clarita.

‘Black Rabbit’, a Netflix series, took home the award for outstanding locations in a TV anthology, movie, or limited series for its filming locations around New York City, including Brooklyn and Manhattan.

The LMGI Awards also honored Vince Gilligan, a four-time Emmy-winning director and writer, with the Eva Monley Award for his dedication to storytelling through location over his career and his most recent work on ‘Pluribus’. Mike Fantasia, location manager of films including ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, and ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award.
