Amazon MGM Extends Partnership with Anna Todd with New Romance Series

Amazon MGM Studios is expanding its relationship with bestselling novelist Anna Todd, adapting her forthcoming romance novel ‘House of Crowns’ into a television series. This latest development marks a significant milestone in Todd’s transition from novelist to filmmaker.

‘House of Crowns’ is set at an elite boarding school in Switzerland, where royalty and world leaders send their children. The story revolves around a poor outsider who receives a scholarship and a gilded heiress with secrets, whose forbidden love could potentially shatter them both.

The novel has not yet been dated for publication, and the series is currently in early development, coming out of Amazon MGM’s UK division. Elinor Cook has been tapped to adapt the book, with Jennifer Gibgot and Andrew Panay of Ethea Entertainment, alongside Lena Roklin of Luber Roklin and Will Gould of Moonage Pictures, set to produce. Todd will serve as an executive producer.

This adaptation was acquired preemptively by Nicole Clemens, VP & Head of International Originals at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, and Gemma Brandler, Scripted Commissioning at Amazon Studios.

Todd’s involvement as an executive producer continues her transition from novelist to filmmaker. Her recent producing credits include the Colleen Hoover adaptation ‘Regretting You’ and Prime Video’s adaptation of her novel ‘The Last Sunrise’, which premiered on August 26. Todd founded Frayed Pages Media in 2017 to develop IP across film, television, and publishing, including the Frayed Pages x Wattpad Books imprint launched in 2022.

Anna Todd is represented by Flavia Viotti of Bookcase Literary Agency and Eric Brown of Eric S. Brown Law PLLC. Elinor Cook, the writer adapting ‘House of Crowns’, is represented by Emily Hickman at The Agency UK and Gabby Lewis at Untitled.

Amazon MGM’s relationship with Anna Todd is a significant one, with the company eyeing a sequel to her adaptation ‘The Last Sunrise’.
