La Oreja de Van Gogh to Receive Agent of Change Award at Premios Juventud
Spanish band La Oreja de Van Gogh has been announced as the recipient of the Agent of Change award at the upcoming Premios Juventud ceremony, held on September 3 in Marbella, Spain. The award recognizes the band’s dedication to social causes over the past three decades.
The group has been involved in various initiatives, including ‘Guitarras Solidarias,’ which helped people affected by flooding in Spain, ‘Cadena 100 Por Ellas,’ an anti-cancer campaign, and ‘Ay Haití,’ a fundraising effort created after the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. These efforts demonstrate the band’s commitment to making a positive impact on their community and the world.
La Oreja de Van Gogh is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, marking a significant milestone in the band’s history. The group has undergone a few changes in recent years, with original lead singer Amaia Montero rejoining the band in 2025 after nearly two decades. The current lineup includes Montero, Xabi San Martín, Álvaro Fuentes, and Haritz Garde, while founding guitarist Pablo Benegas has announced that he will not participate in the tour to devote more time to his family and other projects.
The band is also nominated for Favorite Group or Duo of the Year and Best Euro-Song at Premios Juventud. The ceremony will feature performances from various artists, including Alleh, Camila Fernández, Eladio Carrión, Elena Rose, and Silvestre Dangond.
La Oreja de Van Gogh will make its performance debut at the awards show with one of its best-known songs, ‘Rosas,’ which has surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify in February, according to their record label, Sony Music.
Premios Juventud will air live from Starlite Marbella on Univision, UNIMÁS, Galavisión, ViX, and YouTube at 7 p.m. EDT, 6 p.m. CDT, and 4 p.m. PDT. In Mexico, Canal 5 will broadcast the ceremony at 5 p.m. local time.
