Peacock Raises Prices Across All Streaming Plans
Peacock, the popular streaming service owned by NBCUniversal, has announced a price increase across all of its plans. The ad-supported ‘Select’ plan will now cost $8.99 per month, up from its previous price of $7.99. The ad-supported ‘Premium’ tier has also seen a price hike, increasing from $10.99 to $12.99 per month. The ad-free ‘Premium Plus’ plan is the most expensive option, now costing $19.99 per month, up from $16.99.
The price hikes will take effect on August 18 for new and returning subscribers. Current subscribers will see the increased prices on their next billing date after September 17. This change will not affect current annual subscribers or users with active promotional offers, who will keep their existing rates until their plans or promotions expire.
Justification for the Price Increase
According to a support page on the Peacock website, the price changes will ‘allow Peacock to continue to create the best experience for its viewers, remain competitive in the marketplace, and deliver unique content across all genres.’
This decision to increase prices comes as Peacock has been expanding its features and offerings. In recent months, the service has added an AI-powered ‘Bravoverse’ vertical-video feed, which features clips from franchises like ‘The Real Housewives’ and ‘Vanderpump Rules.’ The service is also working on a feature that will let fans stream live games in a vertical format using real-time AI-driven cropping optimized for phone screens.
Peacock has also been investing in original content, including two new mystery games, Law & Order: Clue Hunter and Public Eye, developed by AI gaming startup Wolf Games. The service has also partnered with YouTube to bring its Premium plan to YouTube Premium subscribers in the U.S. starting in early 2027.
Launched in 2020, Peacock has seen significant growth, reporting its first-ever profitable quarter last month. The service now has 48 million subscribers, driven by popular content like the NBA playoffs, FIFA World Cup, and ‘Love Island.’
Peacock is not the only streaming service to increase prices in recent years. Netflix and HBO Max have also raised their prices, with Peacock’s most recent price hike taking effect in July 2025, when prices increased by $3. The latest increase marks the platform’s fourth price hike in four years.
