Netflix’s Action Franchise ‘Extraction 3’ Rounds Out Its Cast with Five New Additions

EXCLUSIVE: Extraction 3, the latest entry in Netflix’s action franchise starring Chris Hemsworth, has rounded out its cast with five additions. The new cast members include two-time Golden Globe nominee Pierce Brosnan (MobLand), Don Lee (Train to Busan), Joe Taslim (The Furious), Chi Lewis-Perry (28 Years Later: The Bone Temple), and Siena Agudong (Amazon’s upcoming Carrie series).

Don Lee joins the cast after inking a deal to star in Tygo, a Korean-language entry in the franchise centered on his former child soldier turned mercenary, which is in post-production. The Extraction films are based on the graphic novel Ciudad from Ande Parks and illustrator Fernando Leon Gonzalez. They follow Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake, an Australian mercenary taking on high-stakes rescue missions around the world.

After directing the first two installments — both of which formerly held spots on Netflix’s Most Popular Films list — Sam Hargrave is back at the helm, working from a script by David Weil, based on a story by Ande Parks, Joe Russo, and Anthony Russo. Producers include Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco, and Ari Costa for AGBO; Hemsworth and Benjamin Grayson for Wild State; Hargrave; Patrick Newall; Eric Gitter; and Peter Schwerin. Shelby Malone and Steven V. Scavelli are executive producing.

Most recently seen starring in Netflix’s The Thursday Murder Club and Paramount+’s hit crime drama MobLand, heading into its third season, Brosnan is repped by CAA and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller. Best known for roles in South Korean hits like Train to Busan and The Gangster, the Cop, and the Devil, Lee is repped by Chris S. Lee at B&C Group, Gersh, and attorney Stuart Rosenthal of GGSSC.

One of the stars of the lauded Hong Kong actioner The Furious, Taslim’s other recent credits include the Mortal Kombat films and the crime drama series Warrior. He is repped by CAA, Range Media Partners, and Brecheen Feldman Breimer. A former professional mixed martial artist, Lewis-Parry plays colossal antagonist Samson in Danny Boyle’s recent zombie flick 28 Years Later and its sequel The Bone Temple, helmed by Nia DaCosta. Other recent credits include Gladiator II and The Running Man. He is repped by Wintersons and Vault Entertainment.

Agudong stars in and executive produces the hit YA films in Tubi’s Sidelined franchise and will be seen coming up in Amazon’s series adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie. She is repped by AEFH, Gersh, Trilogy Talent, and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum.

Extraction 3 is currently filming in Australia, with Idris Elba and Golshifteh Farahani co-starring alongside Hemsworth. The film’s logline is being kept under wraps, as are the roles of the other new hires. With its star-studded cast and high-octane action sequences, Extraction 3 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of the year.
