Soybeans Market Update: China Imports 712,000 MT of 2026/27 Soybeans

The soybeans market is witnessing a mixed trend on Monday morning, with prices fluctuating between 4 to 6 ½ cents. This comes after futures pushed higher late on Friday, with contracts up 1 to 4 ¼ cents at the close. The September contract, in particular, saw a significant gain of 47 ¼ cents on the week, with November contracts up 47 cents higher.

The cmdtyView national average Cash Bean price also saw a notable increase, rising by 3 1/4 cent to $12.02. This growth is a positive indicator for the soybeans market, as it reflects the increasing demand for soybeans in the domestic market.

On the other hand, Soymeal futures posted gains of $2 to $3.60 on the day, with September up $7.50 on the week. This increase in Soymeal prices is a positive sign for the soybeans market, as it suggests that the demand for soybeans is not only increasing but also translating into higher prices for related products.

However, Soy Oil prices saw a decline, with losses ranging from 56 to 184 points. This drop in Soy Oil prices is a concern for the soybeans market, as it may indicate a decrease in demand for soybeans in the near future.

The USDA reported a significant sale of 712,000 MT of 2026/27 soybeans to China on Friday morning, which is a major development in the soybeans market. Additionally, 720,000 MT of soybeans were sold to unknown destinations, which further highlights the increasing demand for soybeans globally.

Pro Farmer estimates the US national yield at 53.3 pba, with production at 4.572 bbu, based on last week’s Crop Tour. This estimate is a crucial indicator for the soybeans market, as it provides insight into the potential supply of soybeans in the domestic market.

Commitment of Traders data from CFTC showed managed money adding back 50,300 contracts to their net long position in the week ending on August 18. This increase in net long positions is a positive sign for the soybeans market, as it suggests that market participants are increasingly optimistic about the future of the soybeans market.

Export Sales data from Thursday revealed 2025/26 soybean sales at 39.992 MMT, which is down 18% from the year prior. However, this decline is partly offset by the fact that the sales pace matches the last couple of years, indicating a steady demand for soybeans in the global market. New crop commitments, on the other hand, are at 11.85 MMT, which is double the same week last year and the largest in 4 years.

China’s Sinograin will auction 290,000 MT of imported soybeans next Wednesday, which is a significant development in the soybeans market. This auction will provide further insight into the demand for soybeans in China and its impact on the global market.
