‘Sentimental Value’ Sweeps the Amanda Awards

Joachim Trier’s Oscar-winning film, ‘Sentimental Value’, made a triumphant return to the Amanda Awards, taking home eight statuettes, including the top prize for Best Norwegian Film. Trier’s film, which won the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film in 2022, also received recognition for its outstanding direction, screenplay, and production design.

In an interview with Variety back in January, Trier and his longtime collaborator Eskil Vogt spoke about their creative process and the importance of working together. Vogt noted, “When I write alone, I procrastinate. When I’m procrastinating with Joachim, even if I haven’t done anything, at least I got to spend a day with my friend.” Trier added, “Eskil is my longest relationship outside of my parents. We don’t need to be silly romantic about it, but we have to be honest: it’s a real gift.”

Best Foreign Film Honors ‘One Battle After Another’

The Amanda Awards also recognized Paul Thomas Anderson’s hit film, ‘One Battle After Another’, which took home the prize for Best Foreign Film. The film, distributed in Norway by Warner Bros. Discovery, has received widespread critical acclaim for its powerful storytelling and outstanding cinematography.
